The Insurance Council of Texas is pleased to announce the 2020 Virtual Workers’ Compensation Conference presented over three Thursdays, September 10, 17 and 24.
“The pandemic continues to impact our global world and despite the challenges we face, our industry remains strong demonstrating our commitment to the communities we serve. To that end, the decision to transition the conference to a virtual event allows us to provide a valuable workers’ compensation forum while taking into consideration the health and safety of our members, attendees and employees,” says Albert Betts, ICT Executive Director.
Through a series of sessions, offered one day a week over three weeks, ICT’s Conference provides attendees an opportunity to hear experts and leaders in workers’ compensation discuss the latest information on timely topics and emerging industry trends. The conference, which benefits both the seasoned professional as well as those new to the industry, offers insights into the issues impacting Texas including the challenges brought on by the pandemic.
For those interested in how the Texas regulatory system has responded to the pandemic, we have the honor of welcoming Workers’ Compensation Commissioner, Cassie Brown, and Public Injured Employee Counsel for OIEC, Jessica Barta, who will share their insight on regulatory changes in 2020 and potential issues for the 2021 Texas legislature.
Industry experts will also speak about topics of interest to employers, employees, claims adjusters, attorneys, and health care providers. Here is a brief overview of the topics scheduled:
Opioid Crisis: Strategies for Successful Outcome
Subrogation: Practical considerations for adjusters
Predictive Analysis: impact on day to day claims handling & customer experience
Medical Marijuana: pro and con and the implications for Texas
An affordable rate of $100 provides access for all three days and on-demand recorded sessions. Continuing Education and Continuing Legal Education credits are pending approval for this event.
