2021 Texas Winter Storm: Results

TDI released their fifth data survey report for data collected through June 18, 2021. Here are some brief highlights:

  • Losses paid- $3.902B
  • Case-incurred losses $6.011B
  • Avg paid loss $15,466
  • Claims paid 253,476 (59.7% paid)
  • Reported claims 424,529

 

On February 26th, in response to the 2021 Texas Winter Storm, TDI issued a brief data survey to a group of companies representing the majority of the market. The purpose of the survey was to collect preliminary claims data on the storm. The affected companies were required to begin reporting certain claims and loss information to TDI beginning March 12, 2021.

 
On April 12, TDI released their first report for data collected through March 26. Additional updates were released for data collected through April 9, April 23 and the most recent release May 21, 2021. All results may be found here.

 

The results are based on information from 85% of the Texas property market and 94% of the Texas auto market. This information will continue to evolve as claims mature and ICT will continue to monitor this issue.
