Fitzpatrick to Chair ICT Board


Insurance Council of Texas (ICT) has elected Thomas Fitzpatrick as Chair of the ICT board of directors, beginning January 1, 2018. Fitzpatrick has served on the ICT board since 2008 and most recently served as vice-chair in 2016-17. Fitzpatrick is the Senior Vice President and Houston Branch Manager for Chubb. He is responsible for profit and loss, staff development, strategic direction and agent/broker relationships for business produced in the Houston territory which also includes east Texas and Louisiana.

The board also elected its other officers for 2018-19: John Stuckemeyer, counsel for State Farm’s Corporate Law Department, was elected vice chairman; David Lavergne, Regional President for the Travelers Companies, was elected treasurer; and John Schramm, Vice President and Branch Manager for CNA, was elected secretary.

Bob Zeman, Corporate Counsel for Allstate, will serve as immediate past chair.

Fitzpatrick said he looked forward to his new role as chair. “The ICT board is an outstanding group of insurance leaders who have diverse backgrounds and a solid understanding of the Texas marketplace and issues that are most important to our members and other constituents. It will be honor to work with this group in leading the best state insurance trade association in the country,” Fitzpatrick said.

Albert Betts, ICT’s executive director, commented that, “Tom will help lead ICT into its new 5-year strategic plan and various initiatives designed to enhance member services and make use of the latest in communication technology and styles. I look forward to working with him and the other officers in the upcoming year.”

Betts also thanked Zeman for his leadership and guidance during the past 2 years. “Bob has given his time and energy to provide excellent and steady guidance as we continue the transformation of ICT into a modern insurance trade organization. I appreciated his willingness to volunteer his time and take my many phone calls.”
