Workers' Compensation Commissioner Ryan Brannan announces resignation

Earlier today, the Texas Department of Insurance announced that Texas Workers' Compensation Commissioner Ryan Brannan has informed Gov. Greg Abbott that he will step down from his position effective May 1.
Commissioner Brannan was originally appointed in August 2014 by former Governor Rick Perry and subsequently reappointed twice by Governor Abbott.
ICT Executive Director Albert Betts commented, “We wish Commissioner Brannan the best in his future endeavors and always appreciated his commitment to making the Texas workers’ compensation system among the best in the nation.”
Governor Abbott may appoint an individual to fulfill the existing term, which expires February 1, 2019.
