27th Annual ICT Symposium Offers Insight for Industry’s Future
The Insurance Council of Texas (ICT) hosts the 27th Annual ICT/AFACT Property and Casualty Symposium July 11 and 12 at the Hyatt Regency Austin on Lady Bird Lake. This historic annual event will be a gathering of over 300 insurance professionals from Texas and around the country, and features industry thought leaders and experts on key issues and trends.
You can register here and if you register by Friday May 31, you will be able to take advantage of our early bird discount. In addition, we are offering discounts to companies who register three or more attendees.
This year’s event sessions will highlight the 86th Texas Legislative Session and what it means for companies doing business in the state. In addition, experts will highlight the latest safety and loss prevention efforts for auto and home, predictions on the future of autonomous vehicles and implications for insurance and larger societal changes, as well a check on the fiscal health of the Texas and national property and casualty lines of insurance. Speakers include the directors of, respectively, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and of the Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety (IBHS) discussing efforts to make safer vehicles and homes; Chris Barker, Founder of CBC Consulting, on the future of autonomous transportation; Dr. Bob Hartwig on the economic outlook for property and casualty insurance in Texas and nationally; Jay Thompson, one of the leading insurance lawyers and lobbyist in Texas, providing an overview of the Texas legislature; and a panel of legislators and industry leaders discussing the 140-day journey through the session. You can review the complete agenda here.
ICT will be applying for valuable continuing education and continuing legal education credit with the Texas Department of Insurance and State Bar of Texas.
In addition to hearing from insurance experts, attendees will have many opportunities for networking and connecting with peers and other industry leaders. On the evening of July 11, during the Networking Reception which begins at 5:30 p.m., attendees will have an opportunity to participate in a Silent Auction to raise money for the ICT Education Foundation, a non-profit charitable organization. All funds raised during the Silent Auction go to support scholarships for insurance students and other education funding to participating Texas universities.
On Friday July 12, ICT will announce this year’s recipient of the Raymond Mauk Leadership Award. The Mauk Award recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution to the property and casualty industry during his or her career. “We are looking forward to hosting our members and friends for another great Symposium here in Austin”, said Albert Betts, Executive Director of ICT. “We want the two-day event to be an invaluable part of their business in Texas. When we finish on Friday, attendees should feel like they learned something new and have information they can take back to their companies and share with others.”
