Electric-powered scooters are appearing on the sidewalks and roadways of every major city in Texas. It’s a quick and affordable way to maneuver around town, but it can also be dangerous. Emergency rooms have treated numerous injuries from people riding on scooters who have collided with fixed objects as well as automobiles.
The Insurance Council of Texas (ICT) warns scooter drivers to take the time to properly operate a scooter safely before venturing out into traffic. Insurance coverage for scooter accidents varies and ICT has prepared this video to explain the consequences of what injured scooter drivers could face.

ICT’s Lock, Take and Hide program
Law enforcement officers have requested the Lock, Take and Hide signs from ICT to deter both auto burglars and thieves. Where ever the signs have been placed, officers say auto crimes have been reduced by 20%.
We’re Out to Alarm Texas
More than 20,000 smoke alarms have been placed into the hands of firefighters throughout the state in order to save lives and property. In its first year of operation in 2005, the program saved three lives.
