TDI seeks comments on
standardized catastrophe data call
In an email Wednesday, July 24th, TDI asked for comments on a standardized catastrophe data call. TDI’s concepts for the standardized data call are based largely on the National Association of Insurance Commissioners’ catastrophe data call, with some Texas-specific data elements added. According to TDI, these draft concepts incorporate lessons learned from the Hurricane Harvey data call, including simplifying the data call and providing for a more automated data handling process.
In the document outlining the new concepts for data calls, TDI lays out what the new data elements for reporting would be, what lines of insurance are required to report, which companies are required to report, and other reporting requirements. See TDI's proposed concepts here.
TDI instructed insurance companies to submit comments on the proposal by emailing DataCall@tdi.texas.gov by August 27th. ICT will be working with our committees and legal counsel for comments, but would appreciate any feedback from members as well. This is an opportunity to help TDI develop an improved data call process.
