ICT Executive Director Message
We are in extraordinary times as we face the impact COVID-19 has on our everyday lives, our companies, and the nation. Texas has joined other states in prohibiting certain social activities in an effort to curb the spread of the virus. On Thursday March 19th, Governor Abbott issued his Executive Order prohibiting social gatherings to no more than 10 people, and shut down restaurants, schools and nursing homes.
ICT stands with our members, employees and our communities as we take steps to manage our new normal. Last week, we announced that we were postponing the April 2, Workers’ Compensation Seminar and combining it with our Workers’ Compensation Conference on September 17.
Like you, we are monitoring news surrounding the coronavirus, and adjusting our planning and business operations accordingly. At this time, we are proceeding with plans for our 28th Annual Property and Casualty Symposium scheduled for July 16 and 17 in Austin, Texas. However, as we continue to monitor the latest information on the pandemic, if we determine that conditions require us to cancel or postpone, we will update everyone.
ICT employees are working from home a majority of the work week but remain available via email or telephone. During this time, we want to ensure that we are responsive and providing our members with the information and services they need and expect. We will be providing routine updates on this ever-changing crisis and how it’s impacting our communities and this industry.
If you are looking for a way to give back to our communities, consider donating through the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation. Their work directly impacts children, education and food banks nationwide throughout the year and especially now during these difficult times.
Our industry has faced many challenges and it is through our collective strength, our commitment to our customers and our resiliency that we emerge strong. Though COVID-19 is an unprecedented challenge, we remain resolute in our obligation to monitor the situation and make decisions that you can trust.
We hope that our members, the citizens of this great state, and our global community remains safe and healthy.
Albert Betts, Executive Director
