Year End Message from ICT's Executive Director
With the holidays upon us and as 2020 winds down, we take time to reflect upon a year like no other. As an industry, a nation, and as a world, we have faced and journeyed together during these challenging months.
On behalf of the ICT staff, and our board of directors, we thank you for remaining strong and steadfast in the face of rapid and enormous changes, professional and personal challenges, and often unwarranted criticism of the industry. As we faced an unprecedented pandemic, the industry took steps to protect its employees and serve our policyholders while maintaining excellent levels of customer service and offering financial relief where possible. At ICT, we have worked to ensure that our services, representation, and information meet your needs, especially in a remote work situation and virtual environment for meetings, discussions, and events.
Like you, we are looking forward to 2021. Earlier this week, health care professionals around the country received the first COVID-19 vaccines, which hopefully is the beginning of a more positive outlook for the new year. For ICT, our focus in 2021 will be on the 87th Legislative Session, which begins January 12, 2021, where property and casualty insurance will likely be under scrutiny for business interruption coverage issues related to COVID-19, auto rates and discounts, coastal windstorm insurance, and litigation and claims questions, among other topics. We will keep you informed of the key issues and discussions which impact your businesses and operations here in Texas; and, we’ll work with other state and national trade partners to ensure this industry’s position is supported by facts and knowledge of how insurance works, while dispelling much of the misinformation other groups present to policymakers.
We are grateful for your support, your membership, and for having your confidence in us as your voice here in Texas.
We wish you all a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a prosperous New Year! May you safely enjoy this time with your friends and loved ones, and we look forward to serving you in 2021 and beyond.
