Media Relations and Public Outreach
ICT Leads Communications, Education and Industry Response
ICT plays an active role in communicating on behalf of its members and the broader insurance industry through media relations, public education, digital outreach and public safety campaigns. Over the past year, ICT’s communications team worked on nearly 200 media inquiries with local, regional and national outlets to provide accurate, timely information on insurance issues affecting Texans, including severe weather recovery, claims guidance, affordability concerns, auto and property insurance trends, theft prevention and consumer preparedness.
ICT also manages public education efforts through its website, social media channels, blogs, resource pages and seasonal awareness campaigns tied to severe weather, hurricane preparedness, fire prevention, auto safety and other key issues. These outreach efforts help consumers better understand insurance, prepare for disasters and make informed decisions before and after a loss.
In addition, ICT works closely with member companies to help coordinate responses to media inquiries involving claims, coverage questions, legal issues and emerging industry concerns. By combining proactive education with responsive media engagement, ICT helps protect the industry’s reputation, support policyholders and ensure the public receives clear and reliable insurance information.
Public Safety Campaigns
Out to Alarm Texas Expands with Record Smoke Alarm Distribution in 2026
ICT’s Out to Alarm Texas program continues to grow in 2026, with a record 2,500 smoke alarms being distributed to help protect families and communities across Texas. This year’s effort is especially meaningful as ICT works with more than 30 State Farm agents to expand the program’s reach and ensure smoke alarms get into the hands of residents who need them most.
Launched in 2005 in partnership with the Texas State Fire Marshal’s Office, Out to Alarm Texas was created to help reduce fire-related deaths, injuries and property loss by providing free smoke alarms to communities with the greatest need. The alarms are distributed through local fire departments and community partners, helping families gain access to a critical, lifesaving safety device at no cost.
Over the past two decades, the program has grown into one of ICT’s most impactful community safety initiatives. With the continued support of State Farm, ICT member companies, local fire departments and dedicated community partners, Out to Alarm Texas has distributed more than 30,000 smoke alarms statewide.
The 2026 distribution marks a new high point for the program and reflects the strong commitment of ICT and State Farm agents to fire prevention, public safety and community protection. By working together, ICT and its partners are helping more Texas families stay safe, prepared and protected.
Lock It Down! Campaign Expands Statewide
With continued support from a State Farm grant, ICT advanced its Lock It Down! campaign in 2025 to help combat rising rates of automobile and catalytic converter theft across the state. Texas currently ranks second in the nation for catalytic converter thefts, which remain a growing concern for both consumers and businesses.
ICT’s campaign empowers Texans to take proactive steps to protect their vehicles by promoting the use of anti-theft devices, encouraging secure parking practices, and fostering greater community awareness. In partnership with local law enforcement, ICT is distributing Lock It Down! signs to police departments across Texas. The signs will be placed in parking lots at shopping centers, hotels and multi-family communities to help deter theft and raise visibility of the issue.
Member Services
Over the past year, ICT continued to strengthen its membership community through recruitment, member engagement initiatives, and outreach efforts designed to connect members with valuable resources and opportunities.
ICT welcomed five new carrier members and five new associate members during the year. These additions contributed to a total increase of 15 member companies represented within the association, further expanding ICT's representation across the Texas property and casualty insurance industry.
A significant membership milestone was the addition of Sentry Insurance and the expansion of Sentry-affiliated companies participating in ICT, contributing substantially to the association's growing membership base and industry representation.
ICT also expanded member engagement efforts through the Membership Matters campaign and quarterly Member Spotlight program. These initiatives highlighted member benefits, advocacy efforts, industry resources, networking opportunities, and member achievements throughout the year.
Member feedback remained a priority. Through surveys and outreach efforts, ICT gathered valuable insight into member needs and preferences. Results reinforced the importance of advocacy, industry information, networking opportunities, and timely communications in delivering value to members.
Through these efforts, ICT continues to build a stronger, more informed, and more connected property and casualty insurance community in Texas.
Understanding Our Membership
To better understand the diversity of its membership and identify opportunities for engagement, ICT completed a membership composition analysis of both carrier and associate members.
The analysis found that ICT represents a balanced mix of large, mid-size, and small carriers, as well as a diverse group of associate members providing legal, consulting, technology, claims, reinsurance, and operational support services to the insurance industry.
This analysis will help guide future engagement efforts, ensuring ICT continues to meet the needs of members across all segments of the property and casualty insurance marketplace.
Welcome New Members
ICT is proud to welcome these new member companies and organizations. Their participation strengthens the association and contributes to a more connected and representative property and casualty insurance community in Texas.
Membership growth included the addition of Sentry Insurance and several reciprocal exchanges, further broadening ICT's representation across the Texas property and casualty insurance market.
